Passion, Elegance, Innovation

and Pursuit of perfection

These are the cornerstones of Paolo Scafora. Our family's artisanal business began in the bustling alleys of Naples way back in 1956. Since then, we've been designing and crafting the highest quality shoes, both ready-to-wear and made-to-measure. Every day, we breathe new life into an artisanal tradition that is fading elsewhere. Our shoes are entirely handmade by skilled master craftsmen, with whom our family shares strong ideals: passion, commitment, sacrifice, and dialogue. We use the finest leathers, such as French calfskin, alligator, and American cordovan, as well as precious linings of cashmere, ermine, and mink. Each shoe is sewn using the time-honored Bologna, Goodyear, Norwegian, and Tyrolean methods. Each creation is hand-painted and embellished with sophisticated antique finishes and rare nuances.

Gennaro Scafora

The eldest of eight siblings, Gennaro Scafora was born in Naples in 1942. Founder of Paolo Scafora, named after one of his four children, he apprenticed in the busy Neapolitan alleys of the 1950s. From a young age, he demonstrated talent and a passion for artisanal shoemaking, inheriting his father's legacy and passing it on to his younger brothers. In the 1970s, he opened his own small workshop specializing in the production of leather soles. Tenacity paid off, but Gennaro never forgot his first love for the art of handmade shoes. It would be his son Paolo who would learn the secrets and turn them into the driving force of a new, fascinating story.

Paul Scafora

Born in Naples in 1974, he developed a passion for handcrafted shoes from an early age. Playing with his brothers in his father's workshop, he was captivated by the smell of leather, the colors of the hides, and the rhythmic, insistent sounds of shoemaking tools. During his adolescence, upon returning from school, he learned the methods of artisanal workmanship. At twenty, he left for Milan to further his study of pattern-making techniques. He combined manual skill with a flair for design, creating custom pairs that quickly spread beyond Italy. He then felt the need to explore his curiosity abroad, working in numerous countries, even as far as Australia. After a few years, he decided to return to his native Naples, where, together with his brothers, he created the luxury brand that bears his name. It was the beginning of an ambitious story, rooted in the family workshop.

THE LABORATORY

Enter the workshop, smell the scent of leather, hear the clatter of hammers and the swish of awls. Memories and emotions intertwine. Paolo and his three brothers thus take up the baton from their father Gennaro, a very young apprentice in 1950s Naples. Today, the third generation passionately and selflessly passes on a tradition in which machinery and industrial equipment are strictly prohibited. To achieve high productivity and fulfill the most demanding requests from around the world, without compromising the artisanal vocation, the workshop is divided into "islands." Groups of artisans specialized in a specific phase reproduce craftsmanship in "series." Every Paolo Scafora shoe embodies the desire for perfection, a love of tradition, a desire for refinement, and an attention to detail. An expression of art before it is artisanal. A long history of sensations and passions, created over time and built to last.

THE LOGO

The Paolo Scafora logo embodies the company's roots, tradition, and Neapolitan pride. The heart of the logo is the ancient coat of arms of "Terra di Lavoro," the first province of the Kingdom of Naples, taken from Scipione Mazzella's "Descrittione del Regno di Napoli" (1601). The two cornucopias surrounded by a royal crown are filled with produce from the fertile "Campania Felix," celebrated in Ancient Rome. The Paolo Scafora brand combines this coat of arms with two rampant lions, a symbol of strength and courage, as well as the inscription "Genius Loci," a supernatural entity linked to the territory, invoked to protect the company's hard daily work. At its base is "Neapolis," the beloved city that has preserved an unparalleled artisan tradition for centuries.
